WW1 MEN RETURNING TO FROME
This project began as a way of keeping the memories alive of those Frome men who fought in WW1 and survived.

Members were asked to research their own Frome ancestors or help the group to research the records and history of the men from Frome.

Nearly 140 men were identified and cards were made for each one, pointing to the source of information available. There are many other men who also returned but so many of the archives were destroyed in the second world war that it is almost impossible to find them online.

This project was started in 2014 and is expected to take about 4 years to complete.

HOLY TRINITY MI's
It is surprising how quickly gravestones can be eroded by the elements and it is important to record what can be deciphered now. The Monumental Inscriptions of Holy Trinity Church are being digitally recorded and are almost complete.

FROME RESOURCES
It became apparent a few years ago that there was no single index reference of data relevant to Frome and it's surrounding villages. Some of our members have been collating all that they could find which includes books, leaflets, maps, newspapers, websites, CD-DVD-microfilm and photos. To date there are over 1850 entries.

Many of the entries are of interest to the family historian - for example:- Dorothy An Autobiography by Sandra Bayley all about the memories of life in Frome by Dorothy Corp. The record notes the ISBN or record number, date written and where it can be seen or purchased.

It may be possible, at a later date, to put the information on this website, but if you send an email request (from the CONTACT page) we will try to answer any queries.

FUTURE IDEAS
Still to be arranged but we welcome any feasible suggestions.
